Walkers launches 'healthier' crisps

12 April 2012

Walkers is launching lower fat crisps in response to growing demand for healthier snacks.

The brand's new Baked range comes in smaller 25g bags which contain a maximum 99 calories.

The September 11 launch will be backed by a £6 million marketing campaign which includes TV adverts featuring Gary Lineker.

Walkers Baked cheese and onion flavour crisps have 2.1g of fat per bag, of which 0.3g is saturated fat.

This compares with 181 calories and 11.4g of total fat in a 34.5g bag of the standard version.

Walkers general manager Neil Campbell said: "We continue to respond to people's demands for healthier snacks, and while Walkers Baked are healthier than other crisps, they taste great."
