Winehouse faces trial over 'attack'

12 April 2012

Singer Amy Winehouse is going on trial over an alleged assault on a woman at a charity ball.

At an earlier hearing, the 25-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge that she attacked Sherene Flash in Berkeley Square, central London, last September.

Winehouse, who performed at the ball before she is alleged to have assaulted Ms Flash, gave her name as Amy Jade Civil at the March hearing.

But she was divorced from her estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil earlier this month and is expected to appear under her maiden name for the trial at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court, which is due to last two days.

Winehouse recently returned to the UK from an extended break in St Lucia.
