Woman killed in airport accident

12 April 2012

A woman has died after she was hit by a lorry at an airport.

Bedfordshire Police said the pedestrian was run over by the vehicle at Luton Airport at 1.30pm on Saturday.

A spokeswoman for Luton Airport said the collision happened on a road outside a terminal.

She said: "London Luton Airport notes with regret that a fatal road traffic collision occurred at the airport this afternoon.

"Bedfordshire Police are investigating the incident.

"It would be inappropriate to make any further comment."

The area was closed for a number of hours while police investigated and motorists were warned to allow extra time for their journeys to and from the airport.

Anyone with information should contact Bedfordshire Police on 01234 841212.
