These adorable photos show the moment fire fighters rescued a dog which became too tired to walk during a mountain hike with its owners.

The 120 pound fluffy pyrenees mountain dog named Kato became “exhausted” and “dehydrated” during a hike on the Maxwell Falls trail in Colorado on Sunday.

According to a tweet posted by Evergreen Fire Rescue, Kato’s owners called for assistance when they were a mile away from the top of the trail.

In a photo posted by the team, the five and a half year old dog was seen being carried down the trail on a stretcher by firefighters.

The post read: “Today’s EFR had a “patient” on the Maxwell Falls trail who was exhausted and most likely dehydrated.

“About 5 1/2 years old, 120lbs and a fluffy Great Pyrenees named Kate. Good thing Kato’s humans reached out for assistance as they were about 1 mile away from the trail head.”

Many commented on the post underneath with similar stories about their own pets.

One man named Danny Veech wrote: "Happened to my great pyrenees, Teddy, 5 years ago!

"Had to call the boys to come help even though they were an hour and a half away. Had to hike 2 miles downhill to get Teddy, then we scooped him up and carried him 2 miles back up during a wicked thunderstorm."
