Barack Obama has hit back at a radio host’s claim he is a demon and smells of sulphur - by sniffing himself in front of a crowd.

Alex Jones, a Donald Trump supporter, claimed both the president and Hillary Clinton were demons on his show two days ago.

He said: “This woman is dangerous, ladies and gentleman. I'm telling you, she is a demon. This is Biblical. She's going to launch a nuclear war.”

Mr Jones, who has previously had Republican presidential nominee Trump on his show, continued: “I've been told this by high up folks. They say listen, Obama and Hillary both smell like sulphur.”

After current president Obama was informed of the allegations, he brought them up at a campaign rally in North Carolina before sniffing himself to check for sulphur.

“I was reading the other day, there’s a guy on the radio who apparently - Trump’s on his show frequently - he said me and Hillary are demons. Said we smell like sulphur. Ain’t that something,” he said.

“Now, I mean, come on, people!”

Mr Trump and Mrs Clinton are due to go head-to-head in a final debate next week before the US goes to the polls in November.
