Brexit: How newspapers around the world reacted to the EU referendum result

Britain’s historic vote to leave the EU sent shockwaves around Europe – and made the front pages of newspapers across the globe.

Boris Johnson featured prominently in coverage after steering the Leave campaign to victory in a seismic result.

French left-wing newspaper Libération carried a memorable photo of the former Mayor stuck on a zipwire in Victoria Park in 2012 alongside the headline: ‘Good Luck’.

Meanwhile German tabloid Bild went with the simple headline ‘OUTsch!’ – having previously urged Britain to remain in the EU.

And the New Yorker magazine carried a cartoon and dated its cover July 5 - America's own independence day.
