These chilling selfies show Warriena Wright and the man accused of her murder in the final moments before she plunged 14 floors to her death.

Ms Wright fell from Gable Tostee’s balcony after the pair had spent their only evening together at his apartment in Queensland, Australia, having met on dating app Tinder.

He is now on trial for her 2014 murder - to which he has pleaded not guilty.

The court heard how Ms Wright had been so scared of Mr Tostee’s “threats and intimidation” that she tried to escape by climbing down from his balcony.

But pictures from earlier in the night appear to tell a different story.

The couple look happy and relaxed as they pose for a series of selfies, with Ms Wright, 26, making a peace sign with her fingers and pulling faces.

Mr Tostee, 30, poses topless and is smiling in the photos.

However, further images show a change in Ms Wright’s body language – she stops smiling and instead looks serious and uneasy.

Mr Tostee, who faces a life sentence if convicted, had met the New Zealander for the first time in the tourist centre of Surfers Paradise on the night she died, the Queensland Supreme Court in Brisbane heard.

He allegedly became angry after Ms Wright threw ornamental rocks at him and hit him with a telescope. He then choked her and locked her out on the balcony, the court heard.

An audio recording made on Mr Tostee’s phone was played, revealing an altercation between the pair, as well as the fall.

“You’re lucky I haven’t chucked you off my balcony,” Mr Tostee is heard saying. “If you try to pull anything, I’ll knock you out.”

A faint scream can be heard on the audio recording before Mr Tostee says “s**t”.

The jury was told a neighbour heard Ms Wright crying, “No, no, no, please let me go home,” before witnessing her falling from the balcony about 15 seconds later.

Defence lawyer Saul Holt said Ms Wright had become increasingly erratic and aggressive toward Mr Tostee after a night of drinking and intimacy.

“What happened in this case is nothing like murder or manslaughter. It doesn’t fit,” Mr Holt said.

The trial continues.
