Videos have emerged of a mass Chinese military presence in Schenzen, north of Hong Kong, amid large-scale protests in the region.

China' state media was said to be "getting tanks ready" in a major "drill" after months of protests. The video footage showed scores of heavily armoured vehicles with more vehicles stationed in an empty sports stadium.

Witnesses shared videos online stating: "China PLA is entering Hongkong from Shenzhen"

Hong Kong airport cancelled all flights for a second day today as demonstrators barricaded the departure terminals.

It is the second day of disruption for the airport, which cancelled all its more than 200 flights on Monday afternoon, after the protesters flooded the busy transport hub.

China this week likened the Hong Kong protests to terrorism. They have presented President Xi Jinping with one of his biggest challenges since he came to power in 2012.

On Monday, police fired tear gas at protesters in districts on Hong Kong island, Kowloon and the New Terrorities.

China’s Hong Kong and Macau affairs office said the country is at a “critical juncture” after two months of anti-government street protests and violence.
