Chris Hemsworth has reportedly suffered a back injury and been treated by "specialist doctors" while filming for the fourth Thor movie.

According to Sunday Confidential, the Australian Chris, 37, recently sought treatment at a private hospital on Queensland's Gold Coast. The star lives nearby in Byron Bay

The publication said Hemsworth, who is currently filming Thor: Love and Thunder, had cortisone injections in his back, which were administered by medics. His visit was reportedly brief and he didn’t need to stay overnight.

It is currently unclear how the star got the injury - but the publication said he was now on the mend.

Hemsworth’s representatives have been contacted for comment.

The actor has been bulking up for both the Thor movie and an upcoming biopic for WWE wrestler Hulk Hogan.

It comes as the actor’s stunt double told an Australian radio channel he was struggling to keep up with Hemsworth physically - saying the actor was currently bigger than ever.

Bobby Holland Hanton told Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa, a morning radio show in Australia, he said: “Everyone is like, ‘Wow, look at the size and him’, but I text him like, ‘Thanks very much dude, you've just made this even harder!"

Hemsworth has previously spoken about having recurring injuries - telling Men's Health UK in March 2019: “On certain days, when I’ve had a few injuries – and I had quite a few during Thor – it can start to become a drag, you know? But over the past year or so, I changed up a lot of my training and nutrition program, and I feel the best I’ve ever felt.

'I’ve found that, after lifting weights for so long and not getting in touch with my fast-twitch fibres, the snappiness that my body had [has gone]. In the dads’ race at my kid’s school last year, I hadn’t sprinted in about five years – then, boom, you go and do a 100m sprint at full pelt. My back was cranked for weeks,” he admitted.

Hemsworth added: “I need to do some more sprint work, I guess. It just hurts. Running is painful. I don’t do a lot of running for that reason. I’d rather have mobility in my body from surfing and get that fluidity that I enjoy.”

Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky are currently both based in Sydney for work. The couple, who share daughter India Rose, eight, and twin sons Sasha and Tristan, six, live in a $30million mansion in Broken Head, near Byron Bay, and have been commuting back and forth for work.

It was announced at the end of last year that Christian Bale would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will star in Thor: Love And Thunder, Disney has announced.

The Oscar-winning actor will appear alongside Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson in the superhero movie, playing villain Gorr the God Butcher.

Thor: Love And Thunder was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 and the plot will feature Portman’s character, Jane Foster, becoming Mighty Thor, Goddess of Thunder.

Hemsworth is reprising his role as Thor while Thompson plays Valkyrie.

Thor: Love And Thunder is set to arrive in theatres in May 2022.
