Dave Goldberg, SurveyMonkey boss and husband of Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg, dies suddenly aged 47

Silicon Valley tech executive Dave Goldberg, head of polling company SurveyMonkey and husband of Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg, has died suddenly at the age of 47.

Mr Goldberg died suddenly on Friday night, brother Robert Goldberg wrote on his Facebook page.

"It's with incredible shock and sadness that I'm letting our friends and family know that my amazing brother, Dave Goldberg, beloved husband of Sheryl Sandberg, father of two wonderful children, and son of Paula Goldberg, passed away suddenly last night," Robert Goldberg wrote yesterday.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg also paid tribute, writing on his own page: "Dave Goldberg was an amazing person and I am glad I got to know him.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Sheryl and her family."

The cause of Mr Goldberg's death was not disclosed.

His widow, Ms Sandberg, is the author of Lean In: Women, Work And The Will to Lead and chief operating officer of Facebook.
