Gerard Depardieu granted Russian citizenship

Gerard Depardieu has been granted Russian citizenship by President Vladimir Putin.

A brief announcement on the Kremlin website said the Russian president signed the citizenship grant for the French actor today.

Depardieu announced he would be moving to Belgium because of President Francois Hollande’s plans to tax the mega-rich at 75 per cent. Russia has a flat income tax of 13 per cent.
