A giant mural of a blue penis in Stockholm is set be covered up following uproar from residents.
The five-storey-high artwork, named 'F*** the World', appeared on the side of an apartment block in the Swedish capital last Wednesday.
It was meant to be up for six months, but the building’s owners have already decided to remove it amid a backlash, according to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
Banners which read “keep your penis inside…” have been draped over the mural by angry locals, while numerous complaints have been received.
Camilla Klimt, marketing manager for property firm Atrium Ljungberg, told Aftonbladet: “Culture and art are important in developing interesting urban environments. Obviously, we care about artistic freedom.
“But at the same time, we must respect the closest neighbours’ opinions.”
The mural’s creator, Caroline Falkholt, previously daubed a giant red penis on the side of a building in New York on Christmas Eve. That mural was also painted over by the landlord.
Ms Falkholt expressed hope that the mural in Stockholm would last longer.
A collective of local artists have been permitted to decorate the apartment block wall since 2008, and artworks are usually up for six months.
