Greek judges and doctors in pay protest

Judges and hospital doctors in Greece today began protest action against the country’s planned £10 billion austerity measures.

The judges, facing salary cuts, will only handle “emergency” court cases for the next two weeks. Doctors in state hospitals will treat critical cases only, for an indefinite period, in their protest over unpaid overtime. Private doctors are already refusing to treat state-insured patients without full advance payment.
