A gunman is being hunted after three students were shot outside a high school in Pennsylvania, US officials said.

Pittsburgh school district spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said the students were shot outside Brashear High School as they walked to a vehicle in which they had arrived earlier in the day.

She said their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening. Two were grazed in the head and one was shot in both the foot and arm. It was not clear who shot them.

Ms Pugh said the victims were not on school property but close by. She said one victim was found inside the school but had either run or been taken there by emergency crews and was not shot inside the building.

Brashear is a magnet school about two miles south of the town centre. Police closed roads nearby.
