A Spanish court has ruled that singer Julio Iglesias is the "biological father" of a 43-year-old man, ending a three-decade long paternity dispute.

Javier Sanchez-Santos was born in 1976 to Portuguese dancer Maria Edite Santos, who claims to have had a relationship with the singer in the 1970s, AFP reports.

Iglesias, 75, had refused to provide DNA.

The singer has eight other children, including pop star Enrique Iglesias.

Julio Iglesias has sold more than 300 million records in 14 languages, making him the best-selling Latin artist ever.

He turned to singing after a car accident in 1963 that ended his burgeoning career as a soccer player.

Of his other children, three were born out of his marriage to Isabel Preysler and five with his wife Miranda Rijnsburger.
