Labour Day 2018: Google Doodle marks public holiday that celebrates the working class and labourers

Google Doodle: Labour Day 2018

Labour Day 2018 has been celebrated by Google with one of the search engine website’s elaborate Doodles.

The annual public holiday celebrates the working class and labourers and their achievements.

Its origins date back to the late 19th century when the trade union and labour movements were growing in the US.

For most countries, Labour Day is linked to International Workers' Day, which occurs on May 1.

But for many others the day is celebrated on a different date with special significance for the labour movement in that country.

Labour Day is usually marked in celebration on May Day in the UK, which falls on Monday 7 of this month.

Tuesday’s Google Doodle will reach those using the search engine website in a number of countries including Germany, France, Spain, Italy as well as those in Russian, India and Mexico, according to Google's website.
