Man opens fire with with a Kalashnikov rifle at restaurant in Brussels shopping street

A man has fired shots at a restaurant in Brussels with a Kalashnikov rifle.

No one was hurt in the incident that happened at 10am on Monday.

The man fired three shots at the restaurant on Avenue Louise, an upmarket shopping street in the Belgian capital.

According to reports, the targeted restaurant was La Parisienne. On its Facebook page, it announced that it would be open later on in the day.

A witness said the weapon was a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Police said the motive was unclear but the spokesperson for the prosecutors office said it was not believed to be a terrorist attack.

According to reports, the man fled the scene.
