Melania Trump is expected to meet the Queen when she accompanies her husband Donald Trump to the UK for an official working visit.

The First Lady and US President are believed to be paying a visit to Windsor Castle during their trip to Britain next month.

It is thought to be her first trip abroad since she underwent a kidney operation and has been noticeably absent as Mr Trump carries out presidential duties.

She did not go to Singapore for his historic meeting with North Korea leader Kim Jong-un or to Canada for the G7 summit.

Mr Trump and his wife will be staying at the US Ambassador's residence of Winfield House at Regent's Park in the capital, according to The Sun.

The couple will be honoured by the Coldstream Guards, Britain's oldest regiment, on their visit, the newspaper reported.

According to reports, Mr Trump and his wife will attend an extravagant welcome ceremony at Windsor Castle where Mr Trump will be invited to meet a hundred-strong Guard of Honour.

Although there have been concerns that the President could face mass-protests in the capital, it is anticipated that the couple will spend some time in central London at the US Ambassador’s residence Wingfield House.

The First Lady has been absent during recent key events that her husband has attended.

She was unable to attend the G7 meeting in Canada because she had an operation to treat a kidney condition.

The first lady was also notably absent during her husband’s historic summit in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

But, Mrs Trump did attend a White House event event honouring Gold Star families alongside her husband last Monday.

Mr Trump said his wife had been through “a little rough patch but she’s doing great."

Mr Trump has not visited the UK since he was elected to the White House in November 2016 and he pushed back a potential visit to London to open the US Embassy in January.

His cancellation prompted media speculation that reasons for the snub included that Mr Trump had been offended by perceived slights against him by UK public figures.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson accused London Mayor Sadiq Khan of endangering the so-called "special relationship" after he said the president had "got the message" from Londoners and would have been met by "mass peaceful protests" if he was to visit.

The Mayor had previously said on twitter: “If he comes to London, President Trump will experience an open and diverse city that has always chosen unity over division and hope over fear.

“He will also no doubt see that Londoners hold their liberal values of freedom of speech very dear."

According to a Facebook page entitled “Protest Trump’s visit”, 48,000 people plan to protest the President’s visit in July.
