Australian terror police have raided two properties as part of the investigation into the New Zealand mosque attacks.

Officers said the family of the Australian man arrested in Christchurch was assisting police.

Search warrants were carried out on two properties on the New South Wales mid-north coast.

Police said that at about 8.30am local time on Monday, a search warrant was executed by the New South Wales Joint Counter Terrorism Team at a home in the town of Sandy Beach, near Coffs Harbour.

Shortly after, another warrant was executed at a home in Lawrence, near Maclean.

The Australian Federal Police and New South Wales Police said in a joint statement: "The primary aim of the activity is to formally obtain material that may assist New Zealand Police in their ongoing investigation.

"The community can be assured that there is no information to suggest a current or impending threat related to the search warrants."

Brenton Tarrant, 28, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody. Fifty people died in the attacks on two mosques in Christchurch on Friday.
