It's not exactly Hawaii, but the icy sea conditions at Stony Point, Minnesota, managed to attract some intrepid surfers, including one who said he had moved to the area because California had been “ruined” by too many people.

North-west winds at the remote spot can lead to perfect waves during winter and spring.
