A man dressed as Freddy Krueger shot five people at a Halloween party in Texas.

A group of men are said to have started causing trouble after turning up at the house party in San Antonio at about 5am on Sunday morning.

One of the men, dressed as the sadistic killer in the Nightmare on Elm Street films, then shot five people.

Officers say the men had not been invited to the party, and a fight broke out when other people tried to remove the uninvited guests.

Four men and one women were injured in the incident.

Three male victims were rushed to hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The woman tried to drive herself to hospital but crashed on the way, although she still made it to hospital, My San Antonio reported.

The suspects fled and police are continuing to investigate.
