Theresa May was sent up by US impressionist Kate McKinnon in a hilarious sketch on Saturday Night Live.

The prime minister became the latest politician to be skewered by the hugely popular American comedy show in a short clip mocking her response to Donald Trump’s Britain First retweets.

Comedian Ms McKinnon, who has in the past taken on Hillary Clinton and Angela Merkel, gave a robotic performance of Mrs May speaking about her Twitter spat with President Trump,

Last week the PM told the US leader he was “wrong” to share the anti-Muslim retweets.

In the parody interview Ms Mickinnon - as Mrs May - says: “The British people know I can give it as good as I get it.

“I’m not afraid of a little social media fisticuffs. And I’ve never felt more alive.

“I saw Trump’s offensive retweets and put that man on blast. Look at this epic takedown: It is wrong for the president to have done this.

“Savage. I am practically a troll now.”

She adds: “But the b**** tagged the wrong Theresa May.”

Donald Trump tagged a woman in Bognor in Britain named Theresa May, rather than the UK PM, in a tweet last Wednesday.

He said: “@TheresaMay, don't focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!"
