Three people have been found dead in a hotel room in Germany with crossbow bolts in their bodies.

A 53-year-old man and two women, aged 33 and 30, were found in a room in the town of Passau on Saturday.

Two crossbows were found with the bodies by employees of the Bavarian hotel.

They said it is not clear what their relationship was, what happened inside the hotel room or how exactly the three died.

According to local newspaper Passauer Neue Presse, the group had booked a triple room from Friday for three nights.
