This was the hilarious moment police officers chased a buffalo through the streets after it escaped from a farm.

The beast had managed to jump a hot wire fence and crawled under barbed wire to make its escape from an enclosure in Texas, USA, on Friday.

Police officers from Round Rock Police were called to reports of a buffalo on the loose at 7.37am and were filmed closing in on the creature in their vehicles.

A video shared on the police department’s Facebook page shows cars with flashing lights chasing the buffalo as it gallops along streets and grass.

Officers were finally able to secure the bison before safely returning it to its home unharmed.

No police officers were injured in the incident, according to reports.

A statement from Round Rock Police Department said: “Officers attempted to lure the buffalo to a secure area without incident.

“The buffalo got loose from a property owner near Country Road.

“Apparently the bison jumps a hotwire and bobbed wire fence to escape. Yes, two fences. We are happy that no one was hurt.

“The North American Buffalo is also commonly known as a bison. These animals are large, quick, and could do harm if encountered in the wrong circumstances."
