An online clothing store has come under fire for an advert that depicts a slim woman pulling a pair of plus-sized tights up to her shoulders.

In photos on Wish.com ‘s website slim models are shown wearing the plus-sized tights.

To demonstrate the size of the tights, the models pull the waist band up over their heads or out in front of them to show the amount of extra space the tights provide.

In one photo, a model has fit her entire body into one leg of the plus-sized tights.

Many people deemed the photos an insult to plus-sized women, saying the advert showed slim women to be mocking the size of the tights.

Emily Angelica described the photos as distasteful and claimed that they were "unrealistic".

Another person said that the advert was “utterly ridiculous” and wondered why plus-sized models had not been used.

However, some people claimed that the site in question had taken the photo from another website called trendingVIP.com and that the models in the photo had not initially been used to advertise plus-sized tights.

One person posted screenshots of the other site that showed it using the same image to sell “magic tights” that claimed not to rip.

The Standard has reached out to Wish.com and TrendingVIP.com for further comment.
