A man has been accused of murdering a fellow wedding guest who heckled him during a karaoke performance for the newlyweds.

Nguyen Ngoc Diep was performing a congratulations song at the event in Southern Vietnam on Tuesday when another guest told him he was “terrible” and snatched the microphone away.

Diep, 44, then became embroiled in an argument with the man and left the party after guests intervened.

But, according to the Tuoi Tre newspaper, he returned a short time later armed with a knife and lunged at the guest – who was, at the time, performing his own song with a friend.

Diep then stabbed the man and his friend multiple times, police said.

Both men were rushed to hospital and the heckling guest later died from his injuries.

The condition of the other man is not yet known.

Diep has been arrested by police suspicion of murder.
