Man charged in double murder case

A 38-year-old man has been charged with the murders of his partner and their young daughter.

John Miller will appear in court accused of murdering Sarah Laycock and eight-year-old Abigail Miller.

The bodies of deputy headteacher Ms Laycock, 31, and Abigail were discovered at their home in Kirkby Avenue, Garforth, Leeds, in January last year.

They were found after Miller was arrested at Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve, near Castleford, West Yorkshire, on January 14, 2012.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "A man is due to appear in court charged with the murders of his partner and their daughter in Garforth last year.

"John Miller, aged 38, is charged with murdering 31-year-old Sarah Laycock and eight-year-old Abigail Miller between Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14, 2012, at their home in Kirkby Avenue, Garforth."

Miller is also charged with six counts of assault on two paramedics, three police officers and a member of the public at Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve.

He will appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
