Two taken to hospital after fire
Two men were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation after fire ripped through a house.
Initial reports that four people were missing were unfounded, the fire brigade said.
Eight fire engines were called to Romford Road in Forest Gate, east London, at 3.15am on Saturday after flames engulfed the property, which is believed to have been disused.
A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said the roof was destroyed and a large part of the ground and first floors damaged.
Firefighters rescued a man from the rear of the building and another man escaped before they arrived.After extensive searches, no other people were found to be involved.
Station manager Daniel Alie said: "The fire caused severe damage to the house and the roof was destroyed. Crews rescued a man from the rear of the house using a ladder. Both men have been taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation."
The fire was ruled to be under control at 7.27am.The cause is under investigation.
