UK reviewing security in Pakistan
British officials are closely monitoring the security situation in Pakistan after Washington withdrew non-essential diplomatic staff and issued a travel warning because of a threat to its consulate in Lahore.
Americans have been told to avoid non-essential travel to the country but there has been no change to the Foreign Office advice to UK citizens or immediate plans to evacuate personnel from the city.
"We're aware of US actions, and remain in close contact with US authorities," a spokeswoman said.
"Security of our staff is an over-riding priority. We keep security measures and travel advice under constant review."
Britain followed the US in evacuating embassy staff from Yemen earlier this week, in response to a separate threat which led Washington to temporarily close down 19 diplomatic posts in the Middle East and North Africa.
No timescale has yet been set for the return of the British ambassador or her staff to Sana'a.
