Finch waits on injured pair

Dan Clark is fighting to be fit for Great Britain's Olympic campaign

Great Britain basketball coach Chris Finch has revealed injured duo Mike Lenzly and Dan Clark are "50/50 at best" to be fit for the Olympic Games.

Lenzly has a torn calf muscle while Finch said Clark's ankle sprain is a bad one, with Friday the deadline for a decision to be made on their availability.

"Mike and Dan are both going through pretty extensive fitness testing," Finch said.

"Dan has a fairly severe ankle sprain and Mike has a slight tear in his calf, and those are both things that are going to heal at their own pace.

"We're giving them every chance to be fit before we make a decision. Both players are committed to the recovery process.

"They are both key players for our team so its important they are given the best chance to be at 100%, but at the moment they are 50/50 at best."

Final rosters must be presented at a technical meeting at 10am on Friday, with teams able to replace players on medical grounds before then.

Ogo Adegboye, who was the final cut from Finch's roster for the Games, has remained with the team throughout the process, and played in the final three warm-up games in case he was needed.

If two replacements are required, Finch could call up another from the original squad long list, with youngster Devon van Oostrum - who starred with the under-20 squad this month after being cut from the Olympic training camp, among those in contention.

"At the moment we are hopeful at least one of the two [injured players] will be in, but if not we have Ogo ready to go," Finch said.
