Mission completed for Lancaster

Stuart Lancaster reflected on England's South American tour as a mission accomplished after watching his side beat the Pumas 51-26 in Buenos Aires and wrap up the Test series 2-0.

He had set his young side the challenge of becoming the first England team to complete a Test series clean sweep in Argentina and he wanted to return home with some fresh selection headaches. Both targets were achieved.

"I am delighted to get the series victory. We had not achieved that before (with a clean sweep)," Lancaster said.

"Credit to Argentina. They improved this week and put us under a lot of pressure so it is even more pleasing to have scored 50 points. One of our goals was to win all four games on tour, including the Barbarians game. Objective one achieved.

"Objective two was to develop other options and look at increasing our selection decisions, which has also been achieved. In terms of our evolution, this tour has been critical. Some of the young players have gained a huge amount of experience coming on this tour and we have developed new leaders.

"We can look forward to the autumn internationals having won seven of the last eight games."

Marland Yarde marked his international debut with two tries and Kyle Eastmond, making his first England start, touched down for a dazzling solo score.

Christian Wade and Billy Twelvetrees were both called up by the British and Irish Lions after impressing in England's first Test victory in Salta.

Wade's call-up led to Jonny May making his Test debut on Saturday and Lancaster was pleased with his accomplished performance, while Yarde grew in influence as the game went on and took his two tries expertly.

"Jonny was thrown in at the last minute. I can't think of an error he made in the game," Lancaster said. "Marland has an unbelievable balance and power that makes him very hard to tackle."
