Second Test delayed by rain

The covers remain on at Headingley
24 May 2013

The second Investec Test between England and New Zealand at Headingley has been delayed by rain.

The scheduled toss time of 10.30am came and went with dark clouds overhead and continued rain in the middle. With the prospects of play in the morning diminishing by the minute, the decision was taken to take an early lunch at 12.30pm.

Umpires Steve Davis and Marais Erasmus will not inspect the pitch until the rain clears, after which there will be a minimum of 90 minutes before play is possible.

England lead the two-match series 1-0 following their 170-run success at Lord's.
