Danny Kirkmond scores a try for Wakefield

Wakefield ended their four-match losing run in style with a 46-10 victory over the woeful Salford City Reds to rekindle their Super League play-off hopes.

Paul Aiton, Danny Kirmond, Dean Collis, Richard Mathers, Paul Sykes, Oliver Wilkes, Ben Cockayne and Peter Fox all crossed as the Wildcats piled on the misery for struggling Salford, whose chairman Marwan Koukash made a point of storming into the home dressing room at half-time to witness coach Brian Noble berating his players after they trailed 30-4.

There was only a marginal improvement by Noble's men, whose tries came from Danny Williams and Jodie Broughton, in the second half as Wakefield continued the largely one-way traffic.
