Wilson takes lead into trap final
Great Britain have a superb chance to add to their gold medal tally this afternoon with shooter Peter Wilson leading the double trap.
The 25-year-old from Dorset, who is the world record holder and world number two in the event, topped the qualifying stages with a score of 143 out of 150 at the Royal Artillery Barracks this morning.
He is currently in the gold-medal position with 50 clays left to shoot, holding a three-point lead going into the six-man final at 3pm.
Wilson will fancy his chances, too, with neither world number one Josh Richmond or reigning Olympic champion Walton Eller, both of the USA, making the final.
Instead, the Brit will take on Russians Vasily Mosin and Vitaly Fokeev, Feehaid Aldeehani of Kuwait, Sweden's Hakan Dahlby and Hungarian Richard Bognar.
Wilson is looking to win Britain's first shooting medal since Richard Faulds topped the podium in Sydney 12 years ago.
Faulds, at 35 and competing in his fifth Olympics, came 12th with a total of 133.
