Heritage

Chris Wheeler, promoter of Heritage, aims to shatter this practice tonight at Cargo - and he's bringing a 30-piece orchestra to help him. 'It's the largest ensemble ever to perform in a UK club,' he explains. 'We're definitely going to get people moving.'

Promising 'car-chasing orchestral grooves' in the form of 1970s funk, breaks and a few cheeky covers, watch out for a stellar version of Minnie Riperton's Les Fleur, as well as specially composed original material.

'The club is the contemporary concert hall,' says Chris. 'We might wear full evening dress just to add a touch of class.' DJ support comes from Jimpster and Sire Sonic.

Sonarclub

It's short on Gaudi architecture - and the closest you're going to get to a beach is spilt builder's sand but, for one night only, Hackney is officially Barcelona. Sonarclub at Ocean tomorrow marks the British launch of the premier electronic music festival, which takes place later this month in the Spanish cultural hotbed, and gives you a chance to check out who you'll be sitting next to on the plane.

Commendably, there's been no scrimping on the line-up, which features techno godfather Jeff Mills, 'bastard pop' producer Richard X and a four-deck live audio-visual performance from RJD2 topping the bill.

But arrive early for Barcelona's own DJ 2D2 and the baile funk machine - think Brazilian booty bass that soundtracks favela raves - that is Rio's DJ Marlboro.

Mad Clams

Club Motherf**ker attained fashionable 'club of the moment' status some time ago, thanks to its down and dirty blend of booze, thrashing guitars and shrieking punk stomping. But where other promoters get lazy, Zena Blackwell and Becky Rosoman continue to innovate.

Seduced by the sordid glamour of New York's acclaimed Mad Clams club on a recent visit to the Big Apple, the pair have flown over the club's DJs for a one-off special at Infinity tomorrow. Expect 1980s electro, new wave and Italo disco from Hot Pocket, Andy B, Dirty Jean and Lez Celeb. In the downstairs room, Zena and Becky drunkenly push buttons under their Daughters Of The Kaos moniker, raising the usual post-punk mayhem.

Whistlebump Boat Party

If you haven't checked out the excellent DJ Cosmo - and you really should have by now - the Whistlebump Boat Party on Sunday is your last chance, for a while anyhow, as the Body & Soul resident is 'quitting the game' as she prepares for her first child.

Celebrating with a four-hour set covering the best in classic disco and soulful house, she's joined by Simon Haggis and Andy Crowther, while Benji B, Bob Jones and the ever-amazing Ross Allen play across the board in Room Two.

The action takes place on the good ship Silver Sturgeon, fÃted as the best cruiser on the river thanks to its art deco bars and chic marble tables. Guaranteed to sell out.
