Anastacia says X Factor bosses wanted her to be the fourth permanent judge.

The singer was a stand-in judge alongside regular panellists Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos during some of the auditions of the ITV1 show and while producers were keen to sign her up as Kelly Rowland's replacement, she had to turn it down as she was too busy.

She said of her time as a judge: "In a business that's so judgmental anyway, it was very hard to reject people - that's probably the hardest thing but you have to be honest. You don't want to destroy their dreams, but some of them really should have another dream.

"I had a great time and I would gladly help them out again, but my schedule was crazy busy. I knew going into it, it was definitely something I couldn't do full-time, but it was something they really wanted."

After Anastacia, who was a big hit with the audiences, turned them down, bosses signed up former US judge Nicole Scherzinger. Anastacia is pleased for Nicole though: "I love Nicole and I think she is just fabulous as a person, she's such a genuine person and I think she's going to be a really great judge again."
