Anne-Marie says she is still embarrassed about falling over on stage during this year’s Brit Awards.

The pop singer, 31, slipped as she walked down a flight of steps onto the stage at London’s O2 Arena while performing her hit Don’t Play with YouTuber and rapper KSI and Digital Farm Animals in February.

Despite managing to style it out and carry on with the performance, the Essex-born star tore a tendon and eagle-eyed fans of The Voice UK will spot her sporting a special ankle support during some of the blinde auditions as she resumes her role as judge.

The eleventh series of the ITV singing contest returns this Saturday hosted by Emma Willis.

Speaking to the Standard and other press at ITV’s Entertainment Autumn Showcase ahead of the launch, she said of the moment which spawned a thousand memes online: “I actually don’t know how I [styled it out].

“When I was on the floor on my knees, it felt like half an hour. Everyone was silent and just gasped.

“I tore a tendon, I done everything to it! I think it kind of like happened because I fell over and then afterwards I went backstage and said ‘look what I just did!’ and done it again and I think that’s actually f***** it,” she continued.

“I did have to record some of [The Voice UK] after I hurt my ankle so wearing the heels was a terrible thing. I think in the end performances I have to wear really low heels because my ankle’s still like, flared up.”

Anne-Marie returns this weekend for her second year as a judge on The Voice UK

Anne-Marie - who is set to perform at this year’s KISS Haunted House Party in a line-up that also includes former The Voice UK finalist Becky Hill - added: “I’ve fully recovered now, I hurt my other one the other day, but it’s not as bad as that one.”

This is Anne-Marie’s second series as a judge after winning her first last year with act Craig Eddie.

Does she think she can win two years in-a-row?

“Absolutely!” she declares, “bring it on!”

The Voice returns on Saturday, September 3 at 8pm on ITV and will also be available to watch on the ITV Hub.
