Lee Mead revealed the results of his recent hair transplant as he appeared on This Morning on Friday.

The 41-year-old was seen with a fresh buzzcut, after having had the procedure in Turkey, and explained on the show his thought process behind going for another hair transplant.

Mead first had the procedure 15 years ago and said he wanted to improve his “personal confidence” as he opted for the transplant a second time.

“My first one was 15 years ago called FUT technique (Follicular Unit Transplant Technique). But nobody knew. Then I had my next one,” the TV star said.

“There’s nothing wrong with being bald but it was receding and it affected my confidence a bit.

“Robbie Williams said he wanted one but his hair had got too thin so I thought I better do it sooner rather than later.”

Mead, who was previously married to Denise Van Outen, continued: “It’s a personal confidence thing.

“The operation was seven hours and you get local aesthetic for seven hours but you can hear everything going on. The team were incredible. I stayed about four days in Turkey.”

The Casualty actor confidently showed off his full hairline on the daytime programme, as he reflected on how his hair was prior to having the hair transplant.

“I never saw anything receding or anything whatsoever,” Alison Hammond responded, who was joined by her co-host Dermot O’ Leary on the show.

Mead shaved off his signature curly locks especially for his hair transplant last month, which took place in Istanbul, Turkey.

He updated followers on Instagram about the procedure during his travels as he was joined by a friend.

According to the NHS, hair transplants range from £1000 to a costly £30,000.

Mead’s second transplant comes after he revealed he didn’t earn any money in 2020, due to the pandemic, as the theatre and cruise ship opportunities he’d been booked for were cancelled.

The multi-talented star recalled the year being “stressful”, telling The Sun: “It’s been very stressful, I’m not going to lie, but my family and my partner Izzy have been an amazing support.

“They’ve picked me up and helped me through it. I don’t want to sound ungrateful, because we’re healthy and safe and I’ve managed to keep my home.”
