Alexandra Burke has cancelled her entire The Truth Is UK tour, claiming that the “timing wasn’t right”.

The Strictly Come Dancing star had been due to perform up and down the country in September, but has now pulled out of the entire run.

Posting a cryptic message on her Twitter account on Thursday night, Burke said that she would be rescheduling more live shows in the “future”, but didn’t say whether or not the actual tour would be going ahead.

She wrote: “I just got back from the UK after a few days away. I'm really sorry to announce that sadly I had to cancel The Truth Is tour in September. The timing just wasn't right.

“I'm really sorry to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this decision. I love performing more than anything and can't wait to reschedule more live shows in the future.”

She added: “There will be more news coming from me soon. Thank you for all your support and understanding.”

A statement on her website read: “It is with great disappointment that due to scheduling issues we must inform you of the cancellation of the 'The Truth Is' tour.

“Full refunds will be issued to all of those who have purchased tickets. Ticket holders will be contacted directly via the point of purchase. We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this decision.”

Burke has been busy since her appearance on the BBC dancing show at the end of last year, having just completed a stint in the West End revival of Chess.

She had an emotional journey through Strictly as her mother died just a few weeks before the series started.

She celebrated her engagement to husband-to-be Josh Ginnelly last weekend, with the pair expected to tie the knot next year.
