Amber Heard and Elon Musk have reportedly split for the second time, months after they rekindled their romance.

The business mogul is said to have made the decision to split from the actress because the ‘timing wasn’t right’, despite admitting to being heartbroken over their first break-up.

“Elon and Amber broke up this week. Elon made the decision to end things, and Amber agreed,” an insider told US Weekly.

"The timing just wasn’t right, but they still care about each other.”

According to US Weekly inside, Heard has been focused on her “independence.”

They revealed: “Amber wants her independence and prefers being friends rather than romantically linked”.

The Justice League actress and the investor initially started dating last spring but reportedly broke up in August due to their clashing schedules.

Musk, 46, opened up about the heartbreak to Rolling Stones, saying: “I was really in love, and it hurt bad. Well, she broke up with me more than I broke up with her, I think.”

However the power-couple reconciled their differences late last year and were spotted on holiday together in Chile on a trip to Easter Island with friends.

Heard was previously married to actor Johnny Depp, while Musk was married and divorced twice from British actress Talulah Riley.

Evening Standard Online has contacted representatives for Heard and Musk for comment.
