News of Murray’s involvement comes less than a month after fellow Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd was confirmed to appear.

In a tweet, which he later deleted, the 63-year-old actor, posted: “On GB set shooting my scene with funny beautiful Kristin Wiig. Lady GBs are adorable, hilarious and badass. Exhilarating! #ghostbusters."

Also slated to return is apparition Slimer, while Thor actor Chris Hemsworth will star as a receptionist - a role which was played by Annie Potts in the original film.

The film is slated for release on July 22, 2016.
