Bob Dylan announces new album Fallen Angels and North American tour

Bob Dylan has announced plans for a brand new album and tour.

The music icon will release his 37th studio album, Fallen Angels, in just two months, followed by a tour of North America.

Following 2015’s Shadows in the Night, which was an album of Frank Sinatra covers, the new record is expected to be released at the end of May.

The 74-year-old will embark on a 27-date tour in June, playing in cities including Los Angeles, San Diego and Boston.

In April, the folk star will perform 13 dates in Japan, with just one month off before kicking off his two-month North American tour.

According to Dylan’s official website, all fans who purchase tickets to the tour will receive a redemption code to receive a CD copy of Fallen Angels.

Dylan has spent the last few months in the recording studio at Hollywood’s Capitol Studios, according to Billboard.

Engineer Al Schmitt told the publication: “It's going along great.

“[Dylan] sounds great. His mood in the studio is fabulous. We’re having a good time. We’re like two old shoes together now, we’re so comfortable with one another now.”

He added: “He’s extraordinarily smart and he’s so aware of everything that’s going on, so he knows what’s happening at every moment.”

Fallen Angels will reportedly be released on May 20.
