Bohemian Rhapsody trailer: First look at Rami Malek as Queen front man Freddie Mercury
Fans have been treated to their first look at Rami Malek in action as front man Freddie Mercury in the long awaited Queen biopic.
The trailer for Bohemian Rhapsody finally dropped on Tuesday afternoon, a day after a short teaser was shared on Queen’s official YouTube channel.
The two-minute clip shows Malek as Mercury, who died in 1991, Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Gwilym Lee as Brian May and Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon.
It shows the band on stage and recording 1975 hit Bohemian Rhapsody, which went on to become one of the greatest singles in history, as they pitch it to one music manager who complains: “It goes on forever. Six bloody minutes.”
Mercury replies: “I pity your wife if you think six minutes is forever.”
The film will follow the band from their formation in the 1970s through to their performance at Live Aid in 1985.
A synopsis reads: “The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music.”
Bohemian Rhapsody is slated for UK cinema release on October 24
