Katy Perry decided to get political during her Brit Awards performance, portraying leaders Donald Trump and Theresa May as dancing skeletons.

The pop superstar, who was a vocal Hillary Clinton supporter during the US elections, took a swipe at the President and the Prime Minister during Wednesday night’s ceremony.

While performing her new single Chained to the Rhythm, two large skeleton puppets were brought out on stage.

One wore a suit and red tie and the other wore a red skirt and jacket, identical to the outfits worn by the leaders when they met at the White House last month.

As part of the dramatic routine, the skeletons appeared to hold hands before suddenly exploding.

“So comfortable, we're living in a bubble/ So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble,” Perry sings.

But while the political message didn’t go unnoticed, viewers seemed more amused by the fact that one of Perry’s dancers appeared to fall off stage.

The dancer, who was dressed as a house, seemed to stumble off the side of the stage, quickly becoming known on Twitter as the ‘new Left Shark’.

“Don't think we didn't notice the one house/dancer that fell off the stage,” one person wrote.

“I think Left shark is undercover as a house this time? #brits #ChainedToTheRhythm,” wrote another.

Another eagle-eyed viewer posted: “Katy Perry's backing dancer falling off stage oh I am weak, this is left shark all over again.”
