Singer Carl Barat fulfilled a life-long dream to crowd surf to the bar and back as he took to the stage for a surprise gig with his band The Libertines.

The four piece performed at Camden's Blue's Kitchen just after 10pm on Tuesday in front of a crowd of around 200 people.

Speaking at the gig, Pete Doherty told the crowd that it had always been Barat's "dream" to crowd surf to the bar and retrieve a drink.

Wanting to help him fulfil that dream, fans ushered the singer to the bar where he grabbed a drink before making his way back onto the stage.

As well as storming through a string of their hits including Can't Stand Me Now, the band also performed a handful of covers from The Strokes’ song Someday, to I Wanna Be Adored by The Stone Roses and Amy Winehouse’s song, Tears Dry On Their Own.

The band – who are set to release their new album Anthems For Doomed Youth on September 4 – wrapped up the set with an accapella version of Chas & Dave's Knees Up Mother Brown as fans tried to invade the stage.

Shortly before the gig Doherty and Barat performed Babyshambles' track Albion at Camden’s Dublin Castle pub to around 20 people.
