The BBC has yet to confirm when the revamped Top Gear will hit our screens, as it was claimed host Chris Evans had got car sick during filming.

In November, during an appearance on Saturday Kitchen, Evans – who replaced Jeremy Clarkson – revealed that Top Gear will hit screens on Sunday, May 5.

That date does not exist, so it was assumed that he had meant May 8.

But a spokesperson for the show denied that a date had been confirmed and told Standard Online that producers are “working towards a May launch” and that “Top Gear continues as planned and on schedule”.

The news follows claims that the DJ, 49, suffered car sickness while filming with Sabine Schmitz.

The pair were racing around a track in Monterey, California when the car came to a stop.

Evans got out and was pictured bending over by the side of the track.

A source told The Sun that the car “screeched to a halt” because Evans felt unwell.

“It would be unfair to expect him to be perfect right from the word ‘Go’,” a source told the publication.

“But how can someone who gets car sick possibly host Top Gear?”
