Comedian Brian Conley was today being treated in hospital after he was dramatically pulled from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

He was admitted to a hospital in New South Wales just after his surprise exit from the jungle yesterday.

This morning, his wife Anne-Marie, who flew out to Australia with the couple’s daughters Amy, 15, and Lucy, 10, looked “worried” after leaving her husband’s bedside. She refused to comment.

A spokeswoman for the Tweed Hospital today confirmed the reality TV star was being treated at a clinic within the hospital but refused to comment on the nature of his illness. It comes just days after Conley appeared to become increasingly distressed on the show following rows with fellow contestants.

Since his departure celebrities have taken to Twitter to voice concerns over his wellbeing.

Eamonn Holmes tweeted: “Poor Brian” while fellow presenter Lorraine Kelly wrote: “Hope Brian Conley is ok.” Television presenter Jeff Brazier tweeted: “Well whatever the concern is with Brian Conley I wish him well & a safe journey home.”

On Friday, the 51-year-old comic was seen sobbing after a disagreement with David Haye. It started after the boxer flicked two burning logs on to the forest floor. The following day he had a bizarre row after chastising TV chef Rosemary Shrager for supposedly insulting former heavyweight champion Haye by saying: “I don’t like boxing.”

Conley, who has a history of depression and alcoholism, said later: “I just wanted her to be clear of some of the concerns we had.”

But fellow campers appeared to be baffled by his outburst and Haye told Ms Shrager: “If you don’t like boxing, you don’t like boxing. I don’t like cooking shows.”

It is believed TV bosses at first thought Conley was struggling with the living conditions after the contestants were surviving on rice and beans after being deprived of meals for five days.

But it later emerged he was suffering from a more serious health complaint and medical staff intervened.

An ITV spokeswoman said: “Brian Conley has left the jungle due to medical reasons”, but refused to go into any further detail. A post on the show’s website said: “We will miss him in camp and wish him well.”

Conley is the first person to leave the jungle this year. The first eviction after the public vote is tomorrow night.
