Dan Aykroyd has said that humour is important now more so than ever in the world we’re living in today.

The Ghostbusters star and Blues musician, who performed at the Blues Kitchen earlier this month, said that there is a “necessity” for comedy.

“There’s a real importance for humour and a real necessity, especially in the world we’re living in now. For satire, and joy and fun and comedy so I think what I did was worthwhile,” he told the Standard.

Speaking about his icon status, he said: “A legend implies that you’re a survivor. You’ve been around a long time if you’re a legend.

“It takes time to make a legend, like a fine whisky. And it means surviving, if legend means I’m a survivor then I guess I’m a survivor. My legendary legacy is about the fun and the laughter.”

The Crystal Head Vodka owner thinks that Blues needs to be played on more mainstream radio stations.

“We’re keeping the blues alive. Blues is dying on radio, it’s all sports or talk, radio doesn’t support blues anymore, making it really hard for artists to go out there and sell tickets and records,” he said.
