Eamonn Holmes has revealed he fears he may only have four years to live as his father died at the age of 64.

The broadcaster, who is 60, revealed on the podcast The Journey with Pete Snodden that despite his wife Ruth Langsford’s reassurance, he still thinks about the possibility of dying in the coming years.

“My father was dead at 64. He died of a heart attack,” he said.“That gives me four years. Ruth says, ‘Don’t talk like that,’ but you do think like that.

“There’s projects that I crave and I’ve got interests in lots of things."

He continued: “There are things I would like to do. I’d like to do biopics on people. I would like to interview Clint Eastwood.”

Holmes said he has been reinvigorated by getting hearing aids, and despite not being “superhuman,” he maintains a “positivity, a lust for life".

WI don’t feel that I want to slow up," he added.

In February, Holmes shared a photo of his late father, revealing he had never got the chance to say goodbye.

“This is my Dad who died suddenly 29 years ago,” he wrote. “I never got to say Goodbye.”

Last week, Holmes lashed out at Celebrity Gogglebox, revealing they had edited out a segment in which he talked about losing his father.

“I am hurt beyond belief that @C4Gogglebox chose not to use me talking about my father dying from a heart attack at the side of a road and replace it with a funny story following a young lad giving his Father CPR. Idiotic and cruel edit.”

Producers subsequently apologised to the presenter.
