Emeli Sandé has revealed she has fallen in love with a new mystery man who is the inspiration behind her new upbeat single which is out today.

The four-time BRIT winner told how she had moved on from the darker sounds of her last album, which was written in the aftermath of her divorce from husband Adam Gouraguine.

The 32-year-old singer said she wants to keep the identity of her new partner “protected”, but sings about him in her new song Starlight.

Giving the Standard an exclusive look at the lyrics, they read: “You are my starlight, your shine can brighten up the darkest night,” and, “In love in love, I feel like I just found the one, the one.”

She said: “It’s a song all about falling in love, and something I can definitely dance to and it reflects somewhere where I’m at in my life. Falling in love with someone is an amazing experience.

“[The last few years have] been a very big learning curve for me and a period of growth. I feel like I have come into womanhood now and I feel very secure in who I am. But I had to learn some hard lessons.”

Starlight is on a six-track EP Kingdom Coming, which is due out in November. She also today announced her first ever arena tour which will include a date at The O2 on 18 October.

Sandé said she is already working on a follow-up album, adding: “I still believe in the album. I’m beginning the album process now for next year. I feel this EP is the bridge to where I want the album to go.”

Sandé will also be taking part in the Give A Home For Human Rights, which will see 1,000 musicians to perform across 300 shows in 60 countries. She is due to play a concert in the front room of Sam Branson’s London home.

Other artists taking part are Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, The National and Jessie Ware. For tickets go to sofarsounds.com/giveahome.
